Otto Link and Meyer saxophone mouthpieces have a tradition rooted in history that goes back some 85 years - the company (JJ Babbitt) was founded by Mr Jessie James Babbitt and his family in 1919 and is still family owned and operated.
Mouthpieces such as Otto Link, designed by Jessie Babbitt in the 1920s and 30s, were such masterpieces they are still in production and are built on the same machines he also designed. Each Otto Link & Meyer mouthpiece is crafted by hand - one at a time - just as they were in the 1940s.

Otto Link 24k gold plated metal mouthpieces combine gleaming good looks with the rich sound quality of a large bore rubber mouthpiece for exceptional style and sound. A wide selection of facings offer superior tone direction and projection with compete control, making Otto Link a top choice for professionals. The different facings (eg. 4, 4* etc.) affect tone control, responsiveness and ease of play. The smaller the number, the smaller the tip-opening (see table). Generally, smaller facings suit less experienced players, as they provide easy control and good response throughout the range. More experienced players tend to prefer a wider tip-opening as these can produce greater volume, stronger tone and a richer tone variety.The early Tone Edge Rubber Otto Link mouthpieces had a large tip opening and inner shank diameter and great projection. Recent models (from 1980 onwards) have less "floor" material than the older models, and have a darker sound.
